
If you or someone you know has a child or you know of an adult who is ready to hit the trails this winter, be sure to sign up to get their Safety Certificate. On Saturday, December 6, 2025, Kalkaska County Sand and Snow along with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources will host a one day in person class for Snowmobile Safety. The class is free of charge, but you must register for the class ahead of time as space is limited, please commit early. The class offers in person instruction to train knowledgeable, safe, and responsible snowmobilers. Any snowmobile operator 12 to 16 years old is required to pass an approved snowmobile safety course to operate without adult supervision or to cross a roadway. There is not a minimum age for enrollment, but attendees will need to read, comprehend, and successfully pass a written test to receive a safety certificate. The class will run from 9am to 4pm with a break for lunch. Lunch will be provided by the Kalkaska County Sand and Snow. Class material will be provided at the start of class. Link to Registration Page
